Cover Reveal: DEVOTED- Hilary Duff (Elixir, 2)

Well, here's the cover to the (much anticipated to me!) sequel to Hilary Duff's, Elixir.
Oh, and if like me, this is the also the title reveal for you. Last time I checked, it was still on 'untitled'.

Thoughts: Um, this isn' nice as Elixir's cover. And I hate the font for the title, I like the simple font for Duff's name and the praise for the sequel status. But other than that, the blue-hue makes this chick look like she is either (a) drowning, or (b) drowned; dead. IDK which one I like better...
Anyways, I'm going to sign off now. I'll let you gaze and decide whether or not you like the cover...

May Galley Grab

Damn, another Galley Grab newsletter!

I just can't keep up. I still have a bunch from last month to read :)
Again, bolded are the titles I'm most definitely going to try to get read.
  • Sometimes It Happens / Lauren Barnholdt
  • Wildefire / Karsten Knight
  • Putting Makeup on the Fat Boy / Bil Wright
  • Love Story / Jennifer Echols
  • The Babysitter Murders / Janet Ruth Young
  • Wildflower Hill / Kimberly Freeman
  • A Cold Piece of Work / Curtis Bunn
  • Creep / Jennifer Hillier
  • Justice/ Karen Robards (I have to get the first in the series to read this one)
  • No Rest for the Dead / Sandra Brown, R.L. Stine, Lisa Scottoline and Jeffery Deaver
  • Paradise Rules / Jimmy Gleacher
  • The Explorer's Code / Kitty Pilgrim
  • The Killing Song / P.J. Parrish
  • The Mistress's Revenge / Tamar Cohen (this is the one I wanted last month, but the link didn't work!)
  • The Orphan Sister / Gwendolen Gross
Happy reading!
(Can I point out that the people @ Galley Grab should check the books...A lot of the YA books are under 'adult' in the newsletters. Just saying.)

Haven't had a serious book haul in nearly two months! The librarians at my library always joke that soon I'm going to run out of books...which I don't doubt ;) here are the titles!

  • 3 Men and a Body / Stephanie Bond
  • Heartsick / Chelsea Cain (Can't wait to start this. I love a good thriller!)
  • Dead Until Dark / Charlaine Harris
  • Blue Diablo / Ann Aguirre
  • All I Ever Wanted / Kristan Higgins
  • Agnes and the Hitman / Jennifer Crusie
  • Clarity / Kim Harrington (surprised that this was even there!)
  • The Last Little Blue Envelope / Maureen Johnson (this, too! I read the first book nearly two years ago...let's see if I remember anything)
  • The Summer I Turned Pretty / Jenny Han
There would have been more--my original list has 14 books, but I figured by Monday I'll have probably three more that are already in transit, so I'll get the rest some other time. One of the books I wanted was checked out between the time I wrote the book down, and the time I got to the library. Never even knew anyone but me even knew about the 'translated' section of my library...Now I just have to decide which to start first! ;D

The ending of What Happened to Goodbye is that sucks. (Maybe I missed something...I must reread this soon.)
But the book was pretty good! Not my fave Sarah Dessen (that goes to The Truth About Forever and Just Listen) but I did like it! :)

Here's the cover for the second book in the Halo series!
I have mixed feelings about the first book, seeing as how it was about angels and focused on (mostly) God and stuff. Most angel books are based loosely on God, but Alexandra had a lot of God-related content in the book. I'm a believer and all, but I don't like religion thrown in my face. At all. But, seeing as how the author is so young, I know I was surprised at the extensive writing. The writing in the book was amazing...maybe because the author's parents are both English teachers? Whatever the case, if you like angel stories and shockingly good writing, check this author out (though, this angel series is nothing like Fallen or Hush, Hush. This is rated 'G' in my book, unlike those other novels, which I rate 'PG-13' if not 'M for Mature' hahaha).
Anyways, I liked the book, but I didn't like the cover of Halo. This cover is MUCH better, even if the 'people' still look like computer graphics (they may be...). At least the lightening looks real! (Um, can't say the same about the 'wings'. Are those blown-up fly wings?!)
The description is also up, finally on GR. And I must say, it sounds interesting. (Even if I don't remember the conclusion of the last book. Hey, it was a while ago that I read it! I read it in September, so sue me if I can't remember the plot...or the character names...or really anything else, except that it was MASSIVE.)
The book releases on August 30--a day I'm finding to have TONS of good book releases, so far!

Cover Reveal: CHARMFALL- Chloe Neill

Two words: JUST. BEAUTIFUL. (Made this image larger than normal cover reveals, since I love it so damn much!)
Every cover of this series is just plain gorgeous, and this is no exception! I LOVE the purple hue, and the girl is, again, fitting for the role of the MC (or, well, one of them). The smokey background is perfectly blended, and I don't think I can find one thing I dislike about the cover. I've always loved the dragged-text effect, and the way it's simple, and yet complex (one of my favorite things in just about anything). I can't wait! The book drops sometime in January of next year...hopefully close to my birthday on the 26th so that I can get it ;)

Cover Reveal: AWAKE AT DAWN- C.C. Hunter

The cover for the second book in the Shadow Falls series is up on GR. Personally, I liked the first one better--though I'm biased, since I love trees. This cover, while beautiful, looks...fake. Which we should all know by now that most covers ARE fake. Normally, people are cut-and-pasted onto different backgrounds and edited to look nice. (you can find vids on YouTube showing how covers are made, btw)
Based on my opinion, the chick's opacity should've been dropped, and some of the mist should have been made to look as though it was falling upon her. Maybe some dew drops in her hair...IDK, but anyways, there's the cover :D I'm rambling now, so immuh stfu.
Between Here and Forever--the new Elizabeth Scott book--is amazing.
I just finished it, and wow. Definitely my new favorite Scott book.
I loved the relation to the 4 MCs in Bloom in this book! Nice surprise (have I ever mentioned how much I love it when authors mention previous characters? Sarah Dessen does it all the time, too. Then again, lots of YA authors do.)
You should definitely pick it up if you like Scott's work. :) (It releases June 7, btw)
